With its main headquarters in Turbo, Apartado, this team works in Turbo, Apartado (Antioquia), Riosucio (Choco) and in the basins of Cacarica and Curbarado (Choco).

Inter-church Justice and Peace Commission
Originally part of the Intercongregational Justice & Peace Commission, the Inter-church Justice and Peace Commission emerged in 1998 as a response to the Church’s absence in the fight against human rights abuses. The Commission carries out a range of work defending human rights, such as accompanying the displaced. In Uraba, PBI provides it with permanent protection in its work accompanying the returned community (CAVIDA) and members of the humanitarian zones in Curbarado and Jiguamiando.

Peace Community of San José de Apartadó
The Peace Community of San José de Apartadó was formed on 23 March 1997 by 500 displaced villagers from 17 different towns in the San Jose de Apartado region. It was a response to the massacres perpetrated in the area the year before. In spite of international accompaniment, the community continues to be victim to kidnappings and has recorded more than 170 deaths since its creation. www.cdpsanjose.org

Cacarica Community of Life, Dignity and Self-determination (CAVIDA)
Established in 2001, when more than 1 500 Afro-Colombians, who had been displaced from the Cacarica River basin in 1997, decided to return to their land and set up the humanitarian areas New Life and New Hope in God.
